Warhammer World Orders

This arrived in my inbox a few weeks ago. My buddies at work decided to whisk me off to Warhammer World for a game before I shelve my dice for a few months, post-baby.

The Game

We had a massive table (6′ x 12′) and played 2v2 – Stark Crusaders and Ultramarines versus Death Guard and Thousand Sons. I had a bunch of units I wanted to get finished off ready for the game, but haven’t had chance to photograph. Expect some posts with those units soon. This is my 1500pts army ready to go.

Stark Crusaders - Warhammer World

It was a great game (obviously an Imperial win!) and a great experience to play in the massive game hall, and on a nice table. This is the table we had, with both armies deployed.

And a few more shots of the game…

Sneaky veterans waiting to pounce from the trees!

The filthy Death Guard advancing up the middle.

Guilliman hiding behind his Tactical marines…erm, I mean leading from the front!

Vanguard Veterans and Plague Marines in the thick of it.

The Ultramarines vindicator looking to splat someone from afar.

Sneaky veterans still sneaking!

Guilliman ‘leading’ the way!

Bugman’s Bar

Bugman's Bar

After the game we hit up Bugman’s for a burger and pint. It’s pretty good in there, with the feel of a Dwarven Tavern about it. Good food and a few decent ales!

Exhibition

After a late lunch at Bugman’s we hit the exhibition halls. I thoroughly recommend it to anyone! Some of the displays are incredible. Here are a bunch of photos, but unfortunately my phone camera plus lighting and reflections don’t really do it all justice – that’s why you need to go along 🙂

You know how much I love my ‘oldhammer’ models, and Warhammer World didn’t disappoint!

The original Rogue Trader rulebook (I’ve just bought a copy off eBay!), RTB01 space marines, and the original Ork Raiders box! Brings back some memories!

Warhammer World

Pretty sure this is the original Blood Angels army from White Dwarf back in the 90s. This is what my Blood Angels were based on before they all got stripped and re-painted as Stark Crusaders.

In case you’re wondering what I’m on about, here’s an old White Dwarf image of them.

White Dwarf

A nice little Space Hulk diorama – that’s the original box in the background.

Warhammer World

The classic Emperor/Horus showdown, created by Mike McVey back in ’93.

Warhammer World

This display is two stories tall, with the tower standing at about 20 feet and it includes 5,500 miniatures. My photos don’t do it justice!

These guys were painted by the ‘Eavy Metal team. The quality is unbelievable – it’s not just the neatness, detail, sharp highlighting etc, that’s expected at this level, but rather there’s an extra level of quality to the way the paint has actually been applied. They don’t look like plastic minis that have been painted, they look like real-life marines that have been shrunk down. The power armour just look like it is that colour, rather than has been painted. I’ve no idea how they get it looking so smooth and ‘real’.

Some other random images from around the exhibition halls.
